Miu Miu pumps

As I try my hardest to avoid cheaply made, chain store clothing bought en masse to soothe some kind of psychological deficiency, I'm turning more and more to consignment shops and sale sites to buy a few, quality pieces in their stead. I've been finding some great designer items bought on the cheap(er) thanks to local sample sales, consignment shops, and of course, the greatest store on earth, the World Wide Web. The Miu Miu pumps on the bottom are from Shop Hers, a new curated ecommerce site where you can buy and sell gently used designer pieces. All items are shipped to the Shop Hers HQ first to ensure authenticity, and then shipped to the buyer. There are some dangerously inexpensive Chanel bags on there. Inexpensive, meaning of course under $2K. Let's hope tax season brings with it a bounty of returns.

slightly athletic

Let's go running! Ha, not really. But let's don running shoes with heartier fashion fare like slim, cropped pants, pencil skirts, and yes, even dresses in the pursuit of Nowness v. 2013. When $500 versions of a running shoe come out (courtesy of Golden Goose, Balenciaga) you know we've got a full-blown Thing here. And even if you won't catch me squatting my way to leaner glutes or pushing 1200 pound truck tires down the street, you may just find me paying homage to Clock Watchers by pairing proper work clothes with all-terrain footwear. It makes it that much easier to run after the bus/flee from street musicians/get home in time for Millionaire Matchmaker or whatever low-budget TV show you've been using to rot your brain lately (personal favorite: The Shahs of Sunset).

Here are a few more affordable options that in my opinion, look no less fashion-y.

4. Adidas Orion $46
5. Nike Free Run $79.97
6. New Balance 420 $54.99

choes

wearing Insight jeans, Uniqlo white shirt, J. Crew sweater, kid's motorcycle jacket from biker store, and introducing...Sergio Rossi laser cut brogues!

As per usual, I'm not yet done Christmas shopping but I've still managed to pay homage to the #1 most important person in my life (me) by completing my yearly Barney's sale purchase. These babies are giving me major menswear vibes because they're the actual proper shape of a man's shoe instead of some round-toed, bastardized ladies' version. The laser cutouts remind me of those tissue paper Mexican banner thingies they use on Cinco de Mayo. Can't wait to wear them with colored socks.

kickin it

God I love these shoes. They do this miraculous thing to your legs that actually makes them look longer, even though the shoes only have like a 3/4" heel. Bonus that I can extract my pinkie toe from them and up the creep factor in a completely subtle, yet terrifying way.

It's too bad these shoes feel like the vice grips of hell and leave deep lacerations in my soft ankle fat with their elastic, because they sure are purdy.

ready to rock

Derek Lam shoes

Sometime between April showers and June Gloom, we get 1-2 weeks of absolutely gorgeous weather that just makes you happy to be alive. Last weekend was one of those weekends. I used it as an excuse to take my new Derek Lam flatforms out for a spin.

F/W MVPs. How utterly sick are those schitzo Chanel sandal/boots? And burnout velvet Balmain boots? And printed Suno booties? And Dolce needlepoint maryjanes?!

It occurs to me I have totally lost sight of the original purpose of this blog, which was to document those ridiculously expensive designer items that make my panties wet and that I'll never be able to afford. Let's indulge in a bit of fantasy, shall we? If I was Kim Kardashian and wanted to reward myself for making a big splash with my fake marriage and celebrate the fact that E! Network now pays me an amount roughly equal to the GDP of Sweden, I would most certainly buy all these beauties and call it a fucking day. Real talk.

Dolce Vita shoes via Gilt Groupe, Jewel Mint necklace

The retail therapy continues. I really need to stop bribing myself to feel better. ANYWAY I finally checked out Jewel Mint, the members-only monthly jewelry service that is the supposed brainchild of Kate Bosworth and her stylist BFF. You get a "personalized" selection of pretty cute pieces to choose from every month, for a flat rate of $29.99. I guess what makes it different than say, Shoedazzle, is that some of the stuff is actually really cute. Sorry Kim, your shoes are fugly.

Got my haircut last weekend thanks to the talented Veronica Valdivia and her traveling pop-up salon. I decided I wanted to do something pseudo "edgy" without going full-on Alice Dellal (which I am not sure I'll ever be ready for) so I went for the Taylor Tomasi Hill--blunt and straight across the bottom. Oh, minus the red hair dye of course. I don't think my virgin strands are ready for that kind of commitment.

Bonus shoe porn for all you freaks:

Sorry for the lack of posting (because I'm so sure you're at home right now clutching a bottle of wine in one hand and a box of tissues in the other, wailing to the heavens now that MY MAGNIFICENT VOICE is no longer echoing across the internets).  Unfortunately outside forces have conspired to keep me on long, profanity laced phone calls with Comcast because my internet and cable don't work. Oh, and my computer is out of memory and cannot handle one more picture, so I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of an external hard drive. Things are malfunctioning. We should be back to regular irregularly scheduled programming shortly.
