My summer so far has been defined by frequent trips into Marin to avoid the fog, more online shopping than shopping at actual stores, Wardell's growing afro that elicits comments almost wherever we go, hanging with Kobe, finding sunny spots to read, a constant smell of self tanner hanging around my apartment, planning a trip to Tulum and Playa Del Carmen in July, and vowing not to spend any more money now that said travel has been planned and paid for. Restraint is key.

life, generally

bared
wearing vintage skirt, madewell denim shirt, no-name sunglasses, earrings from Morocco, vintage and thrifted jewelry, and Derek Lam shoes
Hangin' on street corners with Kobes the other weekend, enjoying a brief stint of warm weather, which has now of course been replaced with typical "summer" weather in SF--blisteringly cold and windy with thick fog that only dissipates sometime around midday and then comes roaring back in the early evening. Kind of like this.
Don't know if you can tell, but I flirted, ever so briefly, with the idea of a crop top and high waisted skirt with this outfit. I think I've decided that one can avoid unpleasant mid-90's references as long as the belly button is covered. What say you?

ready to rock
Derek Lam shoes
Sometime between April showers and June Gloom, we get 1-2 weeks of absolutely gorgeous weather that just makes you happy to be alive. Last weekend was one of those weekends. I used it as an excuse to take my new Derek Lam flatforms out for a spin.

cold beach
wearing Alice McCall dress from SS 2008, Gap sweater, H&M tights and target socks, Hunter boots, UO utility jacket
So the weather has recently taken a turn for the schizophrenic and given us 6 straight days of rain and wind, which has made this whole spring transition thing slightly complicated. Luckily my Hunter Wellies--which have become the de rigueur footwear for San Franciscans grappling with rain--stand in nicely with short dresses, tights, and socks. I just wish they didn't make my calves sweat so much.
ANYWAY, I'm crazy stoked about this new chair that I snagged for $45 bones off of Craigslist. It needs a little TLC, but doesn't smell like something died in it, so overall it's a major win!

concentric circles
It finally got warm enough to take one of my new flea market finds for a test drive. Actually, scratch that, I've worn the shirt once already over a turtleneck. I found it in LA at the Melrose Trading Post, and loved it so much I broke my own rule of never buying polyester. Oh, and the $12 price tag didn't hurt either.

starstruck
Spent a few (coldish) days in L.A. visiting a best friend this weekend. Checked out the Melrose Trading Post flea market (grabbed two amazing tops which I'll share later), ate at Mario Batalli's Pizza joint Mozza, strolled through Will Rogers Park, and finished off with dinner at Chateau Marmont seated within spitting distance of a distracted, chain-smoking Lindsay Lohan. Also saw Dita Von Teese hurrying out in an amazing femme tux. I know it's uncool to admit it, but I LOVE seeing celebrities. Going to L.A. without seeing at least three D-listers is like going to Africa without seeing any Zebras. Shit is just wrong.

saturdays in the sun
Still savoring the last few days of an Indian Summer. This weekend I went to San Francisco's favorite drum circle/burner hangout/dog watcher's paradise Dolores Park with my friend Kelli and her daughter Isabella. We claimed a spot long before most of the hipsters woke up and were out before 3pm. Not my normal schedule, but sort of nice and different.
Also found a knee-length A-line leather skirt at Goodwill that has completely changed my attitude about Fall. Bring it on.

stalked
wearing thrifted Elie Tahari skirt, vintage blouse, J. Crew sweater, BDG jacket, Dolce Vita boots, vintage ring (belonged to my Aunt), Stella & Dot necklace, and Butter London nail polish in "Wallis."
It's Monday, it was already dark when I get home from work, and it's raining (hence sour face in above photos). My only weapon for combatting the sudden dreariness of Fall was this metallic skirt I found at one of my favorite consignment stores. Bonus that it ended up matching my Chanel Peridot wannabe from Butter London, which is totally going to be one of my go-to fall polish colors.
Also, this hilarious bit of fuckery:

hot coffee
wearing UO sweater, vintage suede shorts, Lush button-down, Stella & Dot necklace, Timex watch, UO boots, random sunglasses from costume shop
My favorite weekend coffee spot happens to be the one where my boyfriend works, called Brown Owl in the Outer Sunset. He makes a mean cappuccino, and his latte art is top-notch. Totally worth the drive into the persistent fog that hovers around the neighborhood, and even more worth it on a day like today, when the weather is so nice, it's even nice in the Sunset. Woo hoo.
