double duty cords

IMGP3153 IMGP3147 IMGP3144

top outfit: James Jeans cords, LL Bean striped breton shirt, thrifted denim jacket, Topshop fur gilet, Madewell scarf, vintage ring, Timex watch. Second outfit: James Jeans cords, J. Crew wool long-sleeved shirt, T by Alexander Wang sweater, scarf from India, UO booties

Or make that triple, quadruple duty. I just knew I had a skinny corduroy-shaped hole in my closet, and the recent acquisition of this pair (followed by wearing them for a week straight) really drove the point home. Found them on Gilt Groupe after exhausting myself in the search for cheaper possibilities. They have fake front pockets (yuck) but other than that are nearly perfect. And comfy as a pair of leggings, minus the camel toe.

Also, just had to share the perfect Valentine's day card from my boyfriend. If you know us, you know how apt this card is. If you don't, let me assure you, it is very apt.

wearing Armani Collection trousers from What Poppy Wants, Tucker blouse via Gilt, Zara cape, Missoni for Target shoes, vintage bag and bracelets, Christian Dior sunglasses, DIY tassel earrings

I'm thankful for the fact that this is the 4th Thanksgiving I've gotten to spend with my wonderful boyfriend. I'm thankful that I've had some of my friends for over 20 years. I'm thankful for my apartment, my job, my family, and the occasional lucky streak at the flea market. I'm just pretty stoked in general.

Dolce Vita shoes via Gilt Groupe, Jewel Mint necklace

The retail therapy continues. I really need to stop bribing myself to feel better. ANYWAY I finally checked out Jewel Mint, the members-only monthly jewelry service that is the supposed brainchild of Kate Bosworth and her stylist BFF. You get a "personalized" selection of pretty cute pieces to choose from every month, for a flat rate of $29.99. I guess what makes it different than say, Shoedazzle, is that some of the stuff is actually really cute. Sorry Kim, your shoes are fugly.

wearing Lorick dress, vintage belt, JC shoes, H&M socks, vintage bag, roommate's ring, random sunglasses

I finally got some sun on my cankles this weekend which gave me an opportunity to wear the Gilt Groupe Lorick dress out of the house for the first time. Short dress + clogs + socks = SO HOT RIGHT NOW. I am also unexpectedly finding that this vintage woven belt makes every outfit better. It's the ketchup of the clothing world.

Special thanks to Rachel from VisualBasic for featuring my likeness in her Blogger Sketch Sunday series! Rach is the real deal--a talented artist, creative thinker, and all around badass chick whose sketches constantly make me wish I had stuck with drawing. Not that I would have turned out half as good as she is, but y'know, I could at least be trying instead of sitting here watching Ochocinco: The Ultimate Catch.

Here are Rachel's drawings and the original photos side by side for comparison! Clearly cartoon me is way hotter than real me.

More nail art (done by meeee) + Lorick dress from Gilt Groupe, worn with Christian Louboutin heels

I am betraying everything that I believe to be true about myself and going camping in the Santa Cruz mountains this weekend. Two reasons I make a less-than desirable candidate for outdoor living: I don't even own a sleeping bag and I insist on shaving my legs every day. This could get interesting.

LaRok jumper, boots by ? via Gilt Fuse

Imagine my utter delight at accidentally stumbling across the thigh-high hooker boots of my dreams today when I went to check out the Gilt Fuse sale. Unfortunately, they weren't for sale and I have no idea who makes them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Currently watching Army of Darkness, a movie that I totally should have seen when I was 8. Watching shitty early 90's movies that you didn't experience as a child is always weird.

Contest ends tonight at midnight, so if you haven't yet entered, I suggest you do.

gilt groupe will be the death of me...

Usually it isn't so painful to pass up the offerings on Gilt Groupe, because I don't exactly sit around thinking "damn, what I REALLY need is a Valentino ball gown marked down to $1,500." But this morning, I awoke to find Alexander McQueen's RTW line on sale on their site. And among the offerings was this marching band jacket marked down from $2,675 to $488:

I mean, SHUT UP. I know $488 isn't exactly chump change, but just look at it. It's so exactly what I want right now, it's not even funny. And it's a McQueen for chrissake. Why must Gilt Groupe torture me so? Can't they just stick to their usual fare of off-season Kate Spade and Lutz and Patmos cardigans? Why must they tantalize me with McQueen? It isn't fair!!
