It's amazing how I can be digging soft, ethereal 70's silhouettes one minute and the next get a major hard-on for 80's-style studs, mega-shoulders, and leathers straight out of a Guns N' Roses video. I'm pretty sure my adulation of the latter has been reignited by the release of the music video for Lady Gaga's "Telephone." You could watch it below or, as Michael K says, "Better yet, skip the video and just put a half tab of acid under your tongue and watch a marathon of Freeway, Thelma & Louise, Kill Bill, and Changed Heat while eating a miracle whip sandwich." Yeah, that about sums it up.

Ok, so everyone is (predictably) queefing over Terry Richardson's literal take on "One Size Fits All" for V Magazine. OMG, they put a like, fat girl right next to a skinny one! How fearless of them!

Well to anyone who thinks this "gutsiness" indicates a changing tide, I have news for you: it doesn't. It's just another obtuse take on 'edginess' from the master of sex and rock n' roll and record-holding penis-size owner Terry Richardson. Crystal Renn is gorgeous, but why pit her against a skinny model? Because let's be honest, the playing field isn't even. Our eyes have become accustomed to seeing designer clothes draped on the rib cages of women who look like they've just survived a week long bout with dysentery or stomach parasites. What good does it do to ease the eye into a more "realistic" (if you want to call it that--I can't think of that many people I know who are as jaw-droppingly gorgeous as Crystal) depiction of the female form by comparing it side-by-side with the status quo? Hardly seems groundbreaking to me.

In spite of this rant (wow, it feels good to write something longer than 3 sentences) I really think these are gorgeous photos. It's just a little tiresome to have all these people in fashion declaring the 'end of the skinny model' when you and I and your aunt Edna all know that's bullshit.

I'm not sure who this Amber Rose person is. Or why she insists on wearing jumpsuits that strangle her lady-parts. But she's everywhere. Check out this editorial styled by the Big Gay Fish himself, Kanye West, for the upcoming issue of Elle. Whaddya think? Is it as disastrous as his first attempt at video direction (don't click this link if you have taste or decency) or should he stick to writing caps-laden blog rants? I'm on the fence.

outfit post FAIL

Ok, so this just pisses me off. I got all gussied up today and had my boyfriend snap pictures of me and then I stupidly forgot to bring my camera when we went back to his house so I could upload them! He lives an hour away from me so, you know, just going back to get it isn't really an option. And I was so looking forward to having a proper outfit post too. Gahhh!

Instead, here are pictures from Vogue this month of Lara Stone and Morgan Freeman. You know, because it's weird or unexpected or whatever. But I sort of love the atmosphere and the feel of them.
