Faux Bois--which is a the snotty French way of saying 'fake wood'. Whatever you want to call it, there was more wood grain in the Spring 2011 collections than in your uncle's Cadillac.
L to R: Rodarte, Diesel Black Gold, Christian Siriano, Chado Ralph Rucci
Collars--not necessarily in conjunction with button-downs either. Some were just added to sheer tops and black shift dresses.
L to R: Isaac Mizrahi, 3.1 Philip Lim, Davidelfin, Cynthia Rowley
Triangles--whether in cutouts or inserts, the thrice pointed shape was having a moment.
L to R: VPL, Juan Carlos Obando, Max Azria, Prabal Gurung
Plastics--or plasticine finishes were errwhere. Shiny rules.
L to R: Rad Hourani, Acne, ThreeAsFour, Reed Krakoff
Lovely find outs!

Looks like there are some curious new shapes - and not much with a retro feel - are we finally moving into the future?

Well, there has been a total return to futuristic elegance. Rodarte that is usually so avant garde was composed and reserved just as Proenza Schouler. I'm quite excited if this all will have repercussions in Paris!
ReplyDeletegreat choices, i love them all! i think my faves are the wood grain ones.
ReplyDeletei'm following your blog now, it's very inspiring! i too, have expensive tastes, but no money to indulge in the exorbitant couture that i'd like, so i settle on what i can afford :) come say hi!
I love the mixing of textures and prints, looking messy is the best.
ReplyDeleteKinda love the last set, even though most of these silhouettes are nothing new (then again, everything gets recycled in fashion). Loving that shiny Acne skirt...
