I'm sitting here on my couch in mortal terror, watching the wind sway a huge telephone pole outside my window back and forth like a metronome. I wonder if downed power lines cause fire...

ANYHOO, check out my new spoils. The fabled shoulder chain/necklace thingy fromPeaceImages, the long feather earrings in all their longish resplendent glory, and a buff colored pair of brogues from the Zara sale on Sunday. I think I can categorically say that all my best shoes have come from Zara. They make a damn good shoe.

Attended the member's opening reception for the Fisher Collection at MOMA on Friday. Luckily enough, I also came home from work that night to find a goodie bag from PeaceImages on Etsy with my Uni Shoulder Chain and an amazing pair of long feather earrings--which I promptly decided to wear with that evening's outfit. It feels like having a red extension in my hair. I love.

Some trends end up being a flash in the pan, barely surviving a season or 2, while others stick around like a stubborn case of toenail fungus (ew), or fade away for a few seasons and then make an aggressive comeback. I have no idea what makes one or the other happen, but suddenly lowrise pants with hip-slung belts are looking fresh again. And they've been out of the picture for what, like a year or two?

Outfit post from Sunday's fruitful shopping adventure. I wish I could say that the pants are as comfortable as they are unflattering, but alas, they're a bit snug through the waist. In theory though, they're a fantastic alternative to jeans. Must find a slightly larger pair.

I had a pretty productive day today. First I visited the Decades Two pop-up shop at Fort Mason, where they were selling lightly worn designer shoes for $150 a pair. After wavering over a tassled pair of Fendi slingbacks (mostly because they looked fantastic with my polka dot pedicure) I swooped in on these Chanel silk faille pumps instead. Then I headed to Painted Bird where I found leather shorts for $15 and a perfectly slouchy silk button-down shirt. Now I'm watching Lady Gaga music videos on MTV. That actually has nothing to do with being productive, it's just awesome.

Won $2 on a $1 slot machine, attempted to drop it low in a maxi dress (doesn't work), and braved what felt like 100mph winds to get a tan. I survived 24 hours in Vegas. And for that, I am thankful.

I am loving twist bandeaus, playful prints, and mis-matched sets in swimwear this year. Oh, and 6" rainbow platforms on the beach are always a sensible choice.

It was bloody hot this weekend--which I'm sure you'll recognize is a rare thing for San Francisco. Also rare: me in shorts. It's not that I don't love them, its just that they frighten and confuse me. Especially when, like this particular pair of vintage Levi's, they give you a mean camel toe (which has been deliberately cut off in the photo below. This is a family friendly blog!)

I've been wearing this dress since I was 16 years old and I love it--literally--to pieces. Today both of the threadbare straps broke and I found out the bodice seams are holding on by a thread. That's some sad shit for real.

I was able to make the skirt cartoonishly full by wearing my vintage crinoline and (since I don't have a half-slip to protect my skin from the itchiness) this floral full skirt underneath. It looked pretty rad if I don't say so myself.

The spontaneous friendliness of strangers never ceases to amaze me. Today on my way home from work, some random dude driving a delivery truck opened up his door and yelled, "Hey! Those are nice shoes," to which I replied 'thanks,' and then the light turned green and that was the end of our encounter. Thanks, random dude. I'll always remember you fondly.

On a more somber note, as the whole world has been made painfully aware, Rue McClanahan, aka Blanche Devereaux passed on to the big rattan couch in the sky today at the age of 76. You'll most likely remember her as the horny, dramatic memaw of the Golden Girls cast, but Rue was also a veteran actress, outspoken Gay rights supporter, and animal activist. This is goddamn sad.

RIP Rue.

Soooo obsessed with the scallop hems and soft colors of Bekväm Clothing. Designer Hannah Elise makes her collections by hand and sells them in small batches on her website. Oh, and they're made from organic and natural fibers, for all you tree-huggers.

Spent Memorial Day weekend in a state of semi-conscious bliss interrupted only by an occasional temper tantrum. At least it was warm enough for shorts:
