wearing vintage Gap shorts, UO tights, J. Crew sweater and belt, gifted bracelet, vintage rings, and YSL shoes

Sure, Hanukah is nice and all, but there's still something magical about Christmas--from the frantic last minute shopping to the 24-hour back-to-back showings of Elf on TNT to the fact that it's the one day of the year you can get away with not answering irate work emails (dude, it's CHRISTMAS). I loves it.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday regardless of religious preference, because let's be honest, modern Christmas is really about unplugging and enjoying friends and family and dogs wearing ridiculous costumes.

Kobe the Christmas Elf

I'll be showing off my new shit over the next few posts, but the YSL beauties above are my yearly shoe splurge. (See last year's here and the year before that here.) I figure I can afford one exorbitantly overpriced pair of footwear a year as long as I stay in the same tax bracket.

wearing LL Bean children's sweater, Club Monaco jeans, Old Navy plaid shirt, Banana Republic bag, Ebay Roper boots, sunglasses from costume shop

Copped the perfect fisherman's sweater from L.L. Bean's kid's catalog that I'm already wearing the snot out of. It's warm as hell, totally not itchy, and from the looks of the fashion blogosphere, SO HOT RIGHT NOW:

Still struggling to find a few last-minute Christmas gifts...I am an amazing procrastinator.

people you should be paying homage to: tammy faye bakker

I recently had the pleasure of seeing The Eyes of Tammy Faye, a truly strange documentary about the First Lady of Televangelism that verges into mocumentary territory--but that outlines with the utmost precision Tammy's commitment to her faith, her unflagging optimism, subsequent gay-icon status, and of course, her obsession with makeup. She was actually a pretty cool lady, if for no other reason than that she refused to adhere to the typical "Christian" rejection of gays, and was one of the first (and only) Evangelists to embrace the HIV positive community. Anyone with a taste for kitsch should definitely see it. And maybe tomorrow, put on a few more coats of mascara (the equivalent of pouring one out) in Tammy's honor.

top to bottom: Deer antlers (craigslist find for $25), posing for pictures with my sister, spiked apple cider, festive holiday manicure, an embellished tree branch

Hosted a little holiday shindig last night. Except for when a case of beers caught on fire, the night actually went off without a hitch. We made spiced cider, put the psychedelic yule log on my new flat screen TV (best OnDemand feature ever) and gorged ourselves on home baked goodies. It's always fun to see how many people you can fit into awkwardly shaped Victorian-era apartments.

Let's just carry on as if I haven't been radio silent for the past two weeks, shall we?
