getting high on a friday night
Donna Karan collection shoes, Zara tunic, H&M turtleneck, F21 necklace, Martin + Osa headband, BCBG leggings
Aaaaand here they are. I couldn't even wait until tomorrow to post. Shockingly, they don't make the balls of my feet cry tears of pain even though they clock in at around 5.5 inches. The hinged footbed is pretty genius when you think about it--it allows the shoe to give with your foot. I wouldn't exactly run a marathon in them, but you know...I wouldn't exactly run a marathon either.
things i don't know:
...whether Amber Rose is edgy, slutty, the smartest hooker in the room, or a delicate Lily flower who is just confusing us all with her complex sartorial tastes.
Things I do know: Kanye is wearing the SHIT out of those Louboutin studded loafers. Work it girrrrl...
Also, I got my DKNY Collection shoes in the mail this week, and let's just say they provoked a rather unprofessional squeal and a jubilant 'happy dance' when they arrived at my office. Off came the Frye boots and on went the 5 1/2 inch monsters and they basically haven't left my feet since. I think I'm going to marry them.

best in show: chanel pre-fall 2010
I haven't queefed over a Chanel collection this much since Kunty Karl sent models down the runway with these lightbulb heels in 2007, but I am smitten. I was originally going to do a pre-fall post but decided I needed to dedicate an entire entry to Chanel and this mix of rich pattern and texture with positively futuristic cuts and silhouettes.
For me, this is everything fashion could and should be: playful, elegant, sumptuous, intellectual without being inaccessible, and rooted in tradition while still looking to the future. Bra-fucking-vo. I'll take one of each.

bits and baubles
Top to bottom: vintage Monet enamel bracelet, F21 stackable rings keeping my vintage ring company, Martin & Osa beaded headband
I'm so optimistic about this headband business that in a fit of blind faith, I decided to wash my hair and shower tonight, which will leave me with no choice but to rock it with a messy bun tomorrow. The pristine vintage Monet bracelet from the '70s was a birthday gift, and one of those pieces which I never knew I wanted until I opened it and realized it's what I had wanted all along. The epitome of the perfect gift. Thanks, mom.
Also, the shoes below are rushing via UPS into my lonely, desperate arms as we speak. I tried them on at the Neiman Marcus sale before Christmas in a size too small and they were still pretty comfortable thanks to the hinged footbed. So, a few weeks and a Shopbop sale later, they will be mine. I'm thinking they'll blend seamlessly with the 70's vibe I'm feeling for Spring. Wide leg jeans, striped sailor shirts, lacy tunics, long necklaces, and chain-strap bags will surely dominate my wardrobe in the coming months.

it's barbie bitch
Barbie as depicted by, top to bottom: Guy Bourdin, Man Ray, Vermeer, Andy Warhol
Sure, if Barbie was a real person, she wouldn't be able to balance on her tiny vestigial feet and she'd probably die of a hernia trying to stand up straight with that epic rack, but truth be told, she's still a badass bitch. Which is why I'm so excited to see her getting the highbrow treatment she deserves in the pictures above. Go here if you want to see the rest.
I also fell in love with these Barbies that got the Gaga treatment thanks to some dude's unhealthy obsession with arts and crafts. Seriously though, you have to check out his Flickr page where he actually wrote out step-by-step instructions for recreating some of these masterpieces at home. It's sort of mind-blowing.

the age of innocence has come and gone
wearing Piazza Sempione pants, Zara t-shirt, thrifted jean jacket, Calvin Klein shoes, new ring from Tara (thanks, Tara!)
I had every intention of going out tonight until I came home and realized that my cozy T by Alexander Wang Thermal had just come in the mail from Gilt Groupe and the idea of curling up on the couch and watching Intervention suddenly seemed far more sensible. Oh yeah, and I'm sick again. Joy.
Sister took these pictures for me on Wednesday to document my new Calvin Klein heels and the fact that on that day I officially turned 27. And maybe it's just me but I swear my brow has a little more world-weariness to it than it did before.
