hot under the collar
Picked up this slightly ridiculous vintage shirt for the sole reason that it reminded me of the prints/silhouettes from Miu Miu's Spring 2010 collection. Because sometimes you just gotta.
ps
Can't stand Keira Knightley or her lemon-pucker face, but I applaud her daring choice to wear Miu Miu's naked lady print shirt to an event recently. The surrealist prints can be, in the words of Tim Gunn, "a lot of look," but ultimately, I think the effect is pretty cool.

trompe l'oeil
So excited for the return of the stovepipe flare. Especially because you can wear them extra-long with your highest platforms and just pretend to be a supermodel for a day. Being 5'8" feels cool.

don't feel like celebrating
They say it's lonely at the top, in whatever you do
You always gotta watch motherfuckers around you
Nobody's invincible, no plan is foolproof
We all must meet our moment of truth
I think I speak for all Gang Starr fans when I say that Guru will be missed, but his contributions to music will never be forgotten.
And for anyone who still thinks hip hop is only about cars and bitches and money, listen to Gang Starr. They'll change your mind.

got my greatest hits
Summery temperatures didn't stop me from being chained to a laptop all weekend, so I just brought the laptop outside into the lush, tropical landscape that is my boyfriend's unkempt backyard. As an added bonus, it abuts a golf course so not only am I being watched by creepy golfers, I'm also in constant danger of being wiped out of existence by a rogue golf ball. I mean, with a setup like this, who needs vacation?!
wearing H&M Garden Collection shorts, vintage silk shirt, Zara booties, Ray Ban sunglasses
This was the kind of weekend where all I wanted to do was drive around with the windows down blasting Sublime. It's going to be a little hard getting jazzed up about going back to work.

stuff that made me happy this week
This outfit. Even though the skirt is suddenly about 2" shorter than it was the last time I wore it. Weight gain makes your clothes smaller.
My rununculus blooming and spreading their reddish-orangey cheeriness throughout the apartment.
A delicious grilled cheese sandwich that I had for dinner, and my lilac manicure.
...AND tomorrow is Friday!

marrakesh nouveau
wearing Yoana Baraschi "Marrakesh Nouveau" Folk Caftan, Old Navy jeans, Frye heels, vintage mink hat, borrowed and vintage jewelry
My roomie works and models for Carina New York, an e-boutique that sells super feminine, classic pieces from designers like Yoana Baraschi and Bettye Muller. When I was recently given a chance to 'model' this gorgeous saffron yellow caftan, I did a little happy dance and quickly decided it would need to stay with me on a permanent basis. It's absolutely stunning both on film and in real life--the kind of piece that makes me want to drop everything and go on a Mexican vacation. It would look best with tanned legs and sandals, but since I live in San Francisco and it's always cold, I paired it with my favorite long flares to stay true to its carefree, beachy vibe.
And if seeing these pictures makes you want to snatch up this lovely top for yourself, the folks over at Carina New York are offering Style Porn readers 15% off with the promo code: STYLEPORN. They also offer free shipping AND free returns on all orders, so you basically have nothing to lose.

yee haw
I so wish this belt was mine, but it isn't. The next best thing: it belongs to my Jewish soul-sister/bff/roommate and she lets me borrow it.
Oh, and ps I love Our Secret. They're having a 50% off sale now and I snagged this belt for a song.

spring shopping, ebay style
Who needs the mall? Ebay has the best selection of lace dresses, floppy hats, silver jewelry, and anything else my little heart could desire to achieve the perfect 70's boho look this spring. The only 'new' purchase I might need to make is for a pair of J Brand Lovestory bell bottoms.

easter sunday for jews
wearing: vintage brocade vest, Michael Kors skirt, Urban Outfitters blouse, Barneys NY cardigan, vintage necklace, earrings handmade by sister, unknown socks, Made by Elves booties
My mom is a bitchin' cook. For dinner we had grilled lamb, Salmon with lavender and honey, minted peas with baby carrots and sugar snaps, and roasted fingerling potatoes. For dessert: lemon pie. And Peeps. So many Peeps.
Gotta start exercising.

bathed in light
wearing H&M jacket, vintage blouse, unknown sunglasses (from Black & Brown), J Brand jeans, Jeffrey Campbell boots, vintage ring, Timex watch
This week I spent some time navigating the world at my god-given height of 5'3". I think it's the first time I've worn flats for a solid week in the past 10 months. Looking forward to propping myself up again--literally--on a pair of 5 1/2" Donna Karans tomorrow.
