and another one...

So I finally got that ASOS dress I posted about aeons ago. The delay was that I can't figure out UK sizing to save my life. I ordered a 10 because I got a leather jacket from there a long time ago in a size 8 that barely zips up over my (pitifully small) bust. But when this dress came in the mail, it was waaay too big. So I had to return it and get the size 8 after all. The good news is, it fits perfectly. And I love it. So, paying for shipping three times is a small price to pay (I guess).

I now have around 4 flippy little floral dresses hanging in my closet...so I'm thinking I may only need about 4 more to complete my collection. Or 5. The jury's still out.

fading light

Test drove the new pants from Anthropologie today and came to the following conclusions:

1. Pants with an elastic waistband rule
2. Silk is by far the most wrinkle-prone fabric known to man
3. When wearing these, the occasional MC Hammer joke is inevitable

Still, I got outfit props from a frumpy looking woman in the parking lot on my way out of work who said, "You look very fashionable." I consider this a small victory. It's the little things...

Thank god tomorrow is Friday. I've been dragging myself along this week fueled only by coffee and a vague desire to make it to the weekend. Mine is a pitiful, meaningless existence.

top to bottom: tatielle, tatielle, knighttcat

One of my earliest childhood games consisted of taking a pair of my mom's nylons and putting them on my head so I could pretend they were long, luxurious braids. In preschool, my favorite teacher (I still remember her) had a swath of jet-black, waist-length hair which as far as I can remember was the only reason she was my favorite. In fact, all I've ever wanted (cue violin) is a nice, heavy curtain of thick, rapunzel-esque hair. And all I've got is a head full of flyaway, baby fine hair that won't grow. You win this round, genetics.

So, in honor of my sick obsession which often finds me jealously eyeing the ponytails of my fellow commuters on the bus, I just wanted to post some pictures of good hair. I think if I feed enough orphans or cure cancer I'll be reincarnated as someone with really really really good hair, right?

Meanwhile, in this life I've always fantasized about getting extensions, but have pretty much been scarred for life (and my had my eyeballs unceremoniously assaulted) by the unfortunate weaves of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton among others. There are just so many goddamn horrible weaves out there. An exception, of course, is the lovely Unbeweavable, who gives me hope that perhaps someday it really will be possible to add length without looking like I have a dead possum on my head. Amen.

Happy Birthday, June!

Went out last night to celebrate the boyfriend's birthday. I think he'd kill me if I told the whole blogosphere how old he is, but let's just put it this way: he's closer to 50 than he is to being born. But then again, so am I...

Getting older is awkward. And not charmingly so.

On a slightly less morbid note, I went honest-to-goodness shopping today for the first time in God knows how long. I spent too much money, but everything was on sale and I didn't get a single item from Forever21, so all-in-all I'd consider it a smashing success. Suck it, recession.

Below, some of my goodies. Try not to die of jealousy.

Inspiring quote of the day: "What other people think of you is none of your business."

So true! Sometimes honesty is self-defeating. I need to remember this.

khaki-colored

Uh, so I remembered what khakis were today. Specifically, I remembered that I hadn't worn them since 2005 and even then it was only because I was volunteering in a prison and we couldn't wear anything blue (including denim) lest we be mistaken for an inmate. But then I saw this:

And let's just say I was inspired. Yes, I'm feeling inspired again. Don't listen to the Scientologists; antidepressants are a beautiful thing.
