the shoes that could have been

I was in Napa/St. Helena today and finally got around to checking out Footcandy where I saw/held/caressed the thigh-high Louboutin boots I've been queefing over for the past month. But, while the shoes were delightful (and I tried on a seriously comfortable pair of Proenza Schouler heels from SS09 that were 50% off) I left empty-handed, in no small part because the sales woman was being a salty-ass no-fun-having Bitch. I just don't get it. WTF are you doing in the service industry if the sight of customers fills you (visibly) with a quiet, seething disdain? I believe there is a place for people like you, and it's called the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Has anyone ever walked away from something they wanted because the sales help were being a-holes? I have to say I don't expect much, other than an acknowledgment of my presence when I walk in the door and a willingness to help me retrieve sizes. Don't act like I'm pawing through the personal items in your closet.

The whole day reminded me of this:

  2. yes this has happened to me before. I went to buy a blackberry and the girl didn't want to go to the back to get the phone instead she stands there and declares it's $400. I was like yeah and? get the phone! I left and went and bought it from another store where the sales guy was all to happy to sell it to me.

I think she was mad she's not shopping instead she's selling. But then again that would been a hell of a commission. Maybe she was having a bad day. Who knows!

  5. ugh. i hate annoying sales people. hate it when they do what they did to you, and also hate it when they're overly eager and gush about how that looks so good on you and "let me show you what else we have", when really i just want to shop in peace sometimes.

p.s. i love the first picture with the fridge. that looks like everything i need all in one place: hot shoes, cold milk, sweets and fruit. YESSS.

  6. It happened to me while I was searching for my 21st birthday present. A couple high-end stores glared at my mother and me, and they lost a rather large sale because of it!

  7. The service at a store ALWAYS affects how long I shop there and what I end up buying. If it's bad and snooty like the experience you had, I'm outta there. I figure I can always get the same product at a different location or store that treats me better! I'm not a high maintenance shopper either but all I ask is for some decency and maybe...a smile?
